What me, Sully?

Clint Eastwood sort of has carte blanche around here. And it’s all because of three little fellows who we here at ReelGood like to call The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. It also has to do with another trio of fellows to whom Eastwood belongs – Eastwood, Leone and Morricone. You belong to that sort of legendary team and you can talk to chairs as much as you want and you can make Invictus as much as you want.

Regardless of chair talkin’ and Invictus makin’, you have to admire Eastwood’s work ethic. He’s nearly ninety years old and he’s up to his fifteenth directorial effort of the millennium. That’s almost one a year, folks.

Sully is Eastwood’s latest directorial feature and we’re getting vivid flashbacks to Robert Zemeckis’ Flight. Poetic justice, perhaps, because a lot of Zemeckis’ career has given us vivid flashbacks to Steven Spielberg’s body of work.

Fans of the Uncharted video games may note the visual similarities between Tom Hanks’ character in this movie, Sully, and the character of Sully in Uncharted. What this means, we’re not sure. It might mean that Eastwood likes Uncharted. It might mean that we like Uncharted.

“The story of American pilot Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, who heroically landed the troubled US Airways Flight 1549 full of passengers on the Hudson River.”
