“Are you an angel?” Fuck.

Man, I knew Anakin Skywalker in The Phantom Menace was shit, but this video really hit it home. It’s not Jake Lloyd’s fault. I doubt there’s any 3 year old (how old was he?) who could have made a young Anakin Skywalker live up to our hopes, and he certainly wasn’t aided by George Lucas’ shoddy script. Lucas certainly aint no Shakespeare. I wouldn’t be doing Summer days justice if I were to compare them to Attack of the Clones. And jeez, Jake Lloyd has probably copped a lot of shit over the years. I’d find it hard not to hate him immediately if I met him. There should be a bar that people like Lloyd and Jack Gleeson can go to where they have sanctuary from the unbridled internet hatred that is thrown at them

Some clever cat has managed to take out James Earl Jones’ dialogue from Star Wars: A New Hope and put Jake Lloyd’s dialogue from The Phantom Menace over the top. It doesn’t always work, but when it does, it’s very funny. It really highlights the big question of the new trilogy – how did that snivelling little dick head become the biggest badass in the galaxy? It’s a testament to the lameness of the new trilogy that young Anakin wasn’t even the most annoying part of The Phantom Menace. That honour would go to this guy.

I’m not sold on these new Star Wars films, and certainly don’t know whether J.J. Abrams has what it takes to make amazing films, but Lawrence Kasdan’s involvement is certainly promising. I guess only time will tell. Star Wars 7, which is rumoured to be subtitled A New Dawn, will begin production early next year and is slated for a 2015 release.
