Sequel?

10 cloverfield laneJ.J. Abrams has gone done surprised everyone with this brand spankin’ new trailer for 10 Cloverfield Lane, which looks awfully like a sequel for the 2008 horror hit, Cloverfield. While there are no specific mentions of that ripsnorter of a flick, the tone, the general set up, and well, the word ‘Cloverfield’ in the title plus the fact that Abrams produced both films certainly points towards this at least inhabiting the same world as Cloverfield.

The director of the original Cloverfield, Matt Reeves, went on to find enormous success as a director, helming both Let Me In and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Relative unknown, Dan Trachtenberg is overseeing operations this time round. We like his last name, so hope this (maybe) sequel is a winner for both him and Abrams.

“After a car accident, a young woman comes to in an underground cellar, where most of the action takes place. She fears she has been abducted by a survivalist, who tells her he saved her life and that a chemical attack has left the outside world uninhabitable. Uncertain what to believe, she decides she must escape, whatever dangers she may face outside.

10 Cloverfield Lane stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, John Goodman and John Gallagher, Jr. and is set for release in the United States on March 11, 2016.
