Having just returned from a screening of Noah, I can confirm that the ancient idea that the trailers before a movie are often better than the movie itself is alive and kicking. Film trailers have become a staple of the world of cinema. They’ve been around for decades, and have evolved and grown as the films they films they advertise have evolved and grown.
This fifteen minute film looks at the development of trailers, from the very first one in 1913 up until the trailers of today, the trends they have followed, how they’ve impacted the industry and how the trailer has almost become its own genre.
