Is it fair for an audience to let the private life of an actor effect their opinion of said actor? Well, when the actor goes on a very offensive Semitic rant, possibly, yes. When the actor’s girlfriend releases tapes of him being aggressive and abusive, then possibly yes again.

Mel Gibson. Remember Lethal Weapon? Remember Mad Max? Gallopoli? Braveheart? How can we look at those movies now that we know he’s a bit of a dirtbag? Ten years ago, Blood Father might have been a film that we were looking forward to. Mel ruined the party for himself and for us.

The presence of William H. Macy can offset only so many years of bullshit, Mel. You know it. We know it.

The original Mad Max was awesome.

Blood Father stars Mel Gibson, Erin Moriarty, William H. Macy, Elisabeth Röhm and Diego Luna and is set for release in the United States in August, 2016.
