Funny and sad and life.
Every year there’s always one film at Sundance that every one gets all worked up about it looks like Me and Earl and the Dying Girl was that film at the most recent Sundance past. It’s based on the Jesse Andrews 2012 book of the same name, if that does anything for you. Does it do anything for us, we hear you ask. Weeeeeellll, it sort of does. It certainly looks like we’ll laugh a bit and we’ll cry a bit but it also certainly looks like the film is going to do its absolute darndest to make sure that we do laugh and cry. Cancer, quirky comedy and filmmaking. They’re certainly bringing out the big guns. We might feel a bit used when all is said and done. Who knows and perhaps who cares. It is what it is. Life, eh.
“Greg Gaines, an awkward Pittsburgh high school student befriends a classmate, Rachel, who has leukemia. Greg and his best friend Earl make low-budget films in their spare time, and together, decide to make a film for Rachel.”
Me And Earl And The Dying Girl stars Thomas Mann, Olivia Cooke, Ronald Cyler II, Jon Bernthal, Nick Offerman, Connie Britton and Molly Shannon and is set for release in June, 2015.
