Whether you like it or not, a sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1982 masterpiece, Blade Runner, exists and is now enjoying widespread accessibility. That sequel is called Blade Runner 2049 and it’s directed by Denis Villeneuve, of Prisoners, Sicario and Arrival fame.

News of the film was met with equal parts anticipation and trepidation, but since Blade Runner 2049 hit cinemas last Thursday, the general critic consensus is that it’s a surprisingly worthy follow up to a film that definitely didn’t warrant a follow up. It seem that according to Hollywood, every film warrants a follow up, and weary audiences worldwide must bear that cross.

blade runner 2049

“Officer K (Ryan Gosling), a new blade runner for the Los Angeles Police Department, unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. His discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former blade runner who’s been missing for 30 years.”

If you’ve only just tuned in, we’re moving full steam ahead with our new rotation system. For this episode, Blakey was out and Zoe and Derek were in. What did Blakey get up to while the recording took place, you ask? We don’t know, we respond, and we don’t care. We’d like to think he spent the time cooking butter chicken and saffron rice, but we can’t with any certainty confirm whether that’s actually something that happened.

The real take home message here is that it’s at the very least possible that Blakey might have spent his time making butter chick and saffron rice but there are other things he might have been doing too. Life is what happens when you’re making other plans, if you get our drift.
